CCTC’s Outpatient Department provides evaluation and therapy at our center to children and families with emotional and behavioral health challenges. This department often functions as a gateway to other services at CCTC as well as a step-down service for children who have progressed from more intensive services. Like all CCTC programs, the Outpatient staff facilitates recovery and fosters resiliency using strengths-based, trauma-informed best practices.
The Outpatient Department offers a range of clinical services, eco-systemic structural family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and attachment therapy. Upon entering the program, the child, clinician and family collaborate to create a treatment plan that addresses the child’s behavioral challenges. Together, the child and therapist explore the roots of these challenges and work on developing ways for the child to manage their symptoms. Although the treatment plan is meant to be a long term guide for the child’s therapy, Outpatient clinicians are also dedicated to helping the child through day to day situations as they arise, and revising the treatment plan when appropriate. If the child is facing a challenge related specifically to a friend or family member, this individual is often invited to attend some therapy sessions with the child until the conflict has been resolved. The program staff also works one on one with parents and caregivers when necessary to help them understand and cope with their child’s behavioral challenges.
Working with the clinicians in CCTC’s Outpatient Department allows children and families to recover and grow at their own pace and without judgment. Through Outpatient Care, the child can expect to learn productive and positive ways to manage their behavior, understand their emotions, and communicate effectively in their home, school and community. Parents and caregivers can expect to learn the tools they need to help their child cope with their behavioral challenges and reach their full potential.
Beginning in 2015, CCTC will be adding Outpatient services in Montgomery County.
